Argument against biometrics - Facist means to control the people

I for one am against biometrics. They can be abused by Big Brother to track where a person goes or what a person even buys or does. An example of a biometric device is a microchip implant that goes on the right hand or is injected in the blood stream. This chip possibly could have a person's bank account, address, medical info, or even criminal history stored on it. I know this sounds like something out of the book of Revelation (I am a Pagan and would never accept such an implant or "mark" if some creepoid gained world power nor would I ever advocate any other Wiccan or Pagan to accept such a device because it is unatural. We do not need a one world government anyway. It is just more governnment and that smells like facsism - we must instead improve things in our own communities - That is the basic philosophy behind anarchy.) but governments can easily abuse this type of technology. I would not even give a dog a biometric device if I had a dog or some other pet.

High time for rent control in PDX - Portland State Students for Rent Control and Housing Fairness

I for one am sick of skyrocketing rental rates in the Portland Area. On average, an off campus apatment (1 bedroom) costs about $650 in Portland. Part of the problem here is the 3 major property owners in the Portland area, namely American Property management, Princeton and Agressive. I suspect there is a little bit of a trust aggreement going on here to keep rental prices high in Portland. They dominate nearly all the apartment market in PDX (There are not that many indepenent landlords in PDX these days) Not only that, but all of the property owners have a 3 year eviction-free history policy. That means that if you screw up once, you are on the streets. How's that for a gentlemens' agreement. Something definitely stinks here in PDX and it is not the trash in the dumpsters or the shit in the sewers. The stench comes from City Hall and Salem where these greedy fucktards tilt the playing field in favor of the landlords' favor and stacks the deck against the renter.

The landlords in Portland are not only driving up the cost of living here but they are vampires, sucking the life blood out of this community. I am a Portland State University student and this issue has been discussed many times, including during the ASPSU elections last spring. This blatent act on the part of the landlords to gouge the renters of Portland is contributing to homelessness in Portland.

We as students and as a community at large need to challenge the status-quo (Yep, this shitty Republican corporate crap going on in PDX) and get together for change.

Robin Hood in the Digital Age

If Robin Hood was still hanging around in the 21st Century, he would be still stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. He would be a master computer hacker and could be anywhere on the planet that has an Internet connection. He would know about all access codes and security protocols, including military ones, since he has been hacking into this stuff since he was a kid. His domain would be robinhood@sherwoodforest.org.uk. He could be anywhere, including any coffee house with free wifi. He could be doing his hacking from an airport or a train station, anywhere in the world, right from his laptop. It would be impossible to catch him.

Robin Hood would break into corporate, bank and stock market computers and steal money from the accounts of filthy rich people like the Queen of England, Bill Gates, Donald Trump and Oprah Winferym as well as others and relocate the funds into the bank accounts of poor shmucks like us. The authorities would not know who did it, nor would they be able to trace Robin Hood through any IP address. All they would see is "robinhood@sherwoodforest.org.uk" on the system log. He would run Linux so his personal data on his computer would be secure.

Underground culture - JCHC Punx / Metal / Hardcore / Rap

In recent years, there has been an explosion in a musical genre pioneered by groups such as Petra, Stryper and Whitecross. This is Christian hard rock, which includes subcategories like punk, metal, hardcore, rapcore and metalcore. There are even some Christian grindcore bands around. These artists have a message of love and redemption in thier lyrics. One early group is D.C. Talk, who wrote songs such as In the Light, Jesus Freak and Into Jesus. Toby Mac, who went solo, used to be one of the band members. Pillar is another group that is popular, whose CD, For the Love of The Game is available everywhere. Pillar has other CD's such as Fireproof, Where do We Go From Here, and The Reckoning. Demon Hunter is another Christian band that plays metalcore. They have CD's such as The Tryptich and Storm the Gates of Hell. Living Sacrifice is a Christian death metal band. P.O.D. is a rapcore band from the 90's. They grew popular, getting airplay on mainstream radio stations. P.O.D. had a hit titled Youth of The Nation. Among other metal bands are August Burns Red, Underoath, Decypher Down, Disciple, Flyleaf, Horde and others. Christian punk bands include Officer Negative, Lugnut, Headnoise, Squad Five-O, Dogwood, Pocketchange, MxPx, Public Unrest, I.N.C., Gel Finatic, Flatfoot 56 and Project 86. Hardcore bands include Skillet and Thousand Foot Krutch. Christian rap acts include Supernatural - who is a local Portland rapper, Grits, Flame, Da Truth, La Crae, T-Bone, who was once a gang banger and KJ-52. Lately, in 2005, Dave Mustaine, front man to Megadeth became a Christian, releasing a CD titled United Abominations. When Dave converted, he quit drinking. The only change in Mustaine's music style is that he writes Christian themes in his songs. Megadeth rocks just as hard as in the old days. Many Christian metal and punk bands rock as hard as their mainstream counterparts. Christian rappers have themes of life in the hood, poverty, gang violence and repentance and turning away from the gangbang lifestyle. Many of them were gang members themselves.

Christian culture is working its way into the larger pop culture. An example of this is Demon Hunter's videos being played on MTV 2's Headbanger's Ball. Another example is the Afters making a video that is on MTV. In this case, MTV called the band and offered to play their video. Lately, songs from Christian artists have had airplay on mainstream radio stations and bands like Demon Hunter and many Christian metal bands tour with mainstream metal bands. They also play at mainstream venues and clubs in local metal, punk and rap scenes.
