Underground culture - JCHC Punx / Metal / Hardcore / Rap

This article was composted (censored) from Portland Indymedia.org for Christian content. Another article I posted on Indymedia Portland announcing a Demon Hunter concert was also composted. This shows Indymedia's bias against anything to do with Christian culture.

In recent years, there has been an explosion in a musical genre pioneered by groups such as Petra, Stryper and Whitecross. This is Christian hard rock, which includes subcategories like punk, metal, hardcore, rapcore and metalcore. There are even some Christian grindcore bands around. These artists have a message of love and redemption in thier lyrics. One early group is D.C. Talk, who wrote songs such as In the Light, Jesus Freak and Into Jesus. Toby Mac, who went solo, used to be one of the band members. Pillar is another group that is popular, whose CD, For the Love of The Game is available everywhere. Pillar has other CD's such as Fireproof, Where do We Go From Here, and The Reckoning. Demon Hunter is another Christian band that plays metalcore. They have CD's such as The Tryptich and Storm the Gates of Hell. Living Sacrifice is a Christian death metal band. P.O.D. is a rapcore band from the 90's. They grew popular, getting airplay on mainstream radio stations. P.O.D. had a hit titled Youth of The Nation. Among other metal bands are August Burns Red, Underoath, Decypher Down, Disciple, Flyleaf, Horde and others. Christian punk bands include Officer Negative, Lugnut, Headnoise, Squad Five-O, Dogwood, Pocketchange, MxPx, Public Unrest, I.N.C., Gel Finatic, Flatfoot 56 and Project 86. Hardcore bands include Skillet and Thousand Foot Krutch. Christian rap acts include Supernatural - who is a local Portland rapper, Grits, Flame, Da Truth, La Crae, T-Bone, who was once a gang banger and KJ-52. Lately, in 2005, Dave Mustaine, front man to Megadeth became a Christian, releasing a CD titled United Abominations. When Dave converted, he quit drinking. The only change in Mustaine's music style is that he writes Christian themes in his songs. Megadeth rocks just as hard as in the old days. Many Christian metal and punk bands rock as hard as their mainstream counterparts. Christian rappers have themes of life in the hood, poverty, gang violence and repentance and turning away from the gangbang lifestyle. Many of them were gang members themselves.

Christian culture is working its way into the larger pop culture. An example of this is Demon Hunter's videos being played on MTV 2's Headbanger's Ball. Another example is the Afters making a video that is on MTV. In this case, MTV called the band and offered to play their video. Lately, songs from Christian artists have had airplay on mainstream radio stations and bands like Demon Hunter and many Christian metal bands tour with mainstream metal bands. They also play at mainstream venues and clubs in local metal, punk and rap scenes.

Wake up call for Christians

How can any Christian with half a conscience support abortion, Planned Parenthood, or the attempt to redefine marriage? How could Obama claim to be a Christian when he gives a speech about choice at a Planned Parenthood event? I think Obama is whack. He is just pandering to people of faith to get thier vote. Obama claiming to be a Christian is like the way the "Christian" slave holders used the Bible to justify slavery or the flaming homo bishops in the Episcopalian church saying that it is okay to lead a church and be openly and unabashedly gay. Homosexuality is sin. God loves them, but their behavior is not okay. No one with known sin in their live should be in a leadership position in a diocese or a church. That goes for adultery and fornication as well as homosexuality, so I am not just singling out gays here. Obama also suppoorts perverting what is meant by God to be a covenant between one man and one woman into lesbian and gay marriage. There was once a time when there was prayer in the public school system, and after it got taken out, presto! We got one heck of a gang and drug problem where kids bring guns to school and do things like Virginia Tech and Columbine. Even PSU has an official pro-choice position on the issue of sexuality, as well as an infection of secular humanisim in academia. The schools teach a watered down US history where they claim that the founding fathers were a bunch of atheists. That is not true. Washington was often seen on his knees praying and most of them wrote letters to each other affirming faith in God. Thanks to this misconception that "separation of church and state" is found in the first ammendment, groups like Americans for the Separation of Church and State sue anyone who starts a bible club in a high school or erects a nativity display in a public place. This is just whack. Secular Humanism, which is actually classified as a religion has become the defacto state religion of America. It is about time for Christians to wake up and take a good hard look around at what is going on. These secular humanistic fundamentalists can be just as dogmatic in their beleifs as a jihadist who blows themself up on an Israelli bus or a communist like Stalin who murdered half the Russian population. Oh, and the Chi Guverra guy that I always see on t-shirts personally executed scores of people.

The real dirt on Planned Parenthood

Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion provider in the United States and it was founded by Margaret Sanger, a racist and proponent of eugenics, a philosophy all about racial purity and limiting the fertility of blacks, Jews, the poor, disabled and other "defective people" and "human waste". This is the same kind of thing that drove Adolf Hitler to exterminate six million Jews in Germany during the Holocaust. The original name of Planned Parenthood was the Negro Project, or as revisionists write, the American League of Birth Control. The Negro Project tricked the elites of black community, including even ministers and doctors, into thinking that abortion was the solution to the low social stautus and poverty the black community suffered. It promised abortion and birth control would alleviate the ills of the Negro by reducing the black population. It was not abortion that ultimately did this, but the black community rising up in protest of the injustice around them that elevated thier status in american society.

Planned Parenthood also aids and abets criminals, namely staturatory rapists who have sex with teenagers. These teen girls then get an abortion and Planned Parenthood conceals the identity of the partner of the teenager and fails to report the incident to the police or the parents. There is such a video documenting this on You Tube:

Here are some quotes from Sanger:

On blacks, immigrants and indigents:
"...human weeds,' 'reckless breeders,' 'spawning... human beings who never should have been born." Margaret Sanger, Pivot of Civilization, referring to immigrants and poor people

On the purpose of birth control:
The purpose in promoting birth control was "to create a race of thoroughbreds," she wrote in the Birth Control Review, Nov. 1921 (p. 2)

"We should hire three or four colored ministers, preferably with social-service backgrounds, and with engaging personalities. The most successful educational approach to the Negro is through a religious appeal. We don't want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population. and the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members."

Margaret Sanger's December 19, 1939 letter to Dr. Clarence Gamble, 255 Adams Street, Milton, Massachusetts. Original source: Sophia Smith Collection, Smith College, North Hampton, Massachusetts. Also described in Linda Gordon's Woman's Body, Woman's Right: A Social History of Birth Control in America. New York: Grossman Publishers, 1976.

This is a wake up call and call to action for the churches of America and all Christians to protest this wicked organizaton wherever they set up thier baby slaughterhouses. Pastors must preach against Planned Parenthood from the pulpit. The unborn are the least fortunate among us an Jesus calls us all to help the less fortunate. God will hold us accountable for what we do about the murder of innocent lives.

Jesus' love working through Christians Drew me to Jesus

Before I knew the Lord, I was depraved. I was into the occult, wicca to be exact. I was a chronic LSD and pot user and I wanted witchcraft to be the official religion of the USA and Christianity overthrown. I then met an autistc girl who was a Christian who told me that Jesus loves everyone and that He wants to have a relationship with me. At the time, I thought God hated me and was waiting for me to die so he can send me to hell to roast forever. My autistic friend told me that God loves me and does not want me to go to hell - that all I have to do is ask for his forgiveness and turn from sin. I did so, and soon after I joined a small street church that encouraged and loved me as well as taught and prayed for me. I was a member of that church for two years and I still have relationships with those people. This was not my image of Christians that I thought. I thought Christians wanted to bomb abortion clinics, turn the middle east into glass and hang gay people from trees. These Christians I knew were loving.

When I started fall term at PSU, I joined a church that did outreach on campus. We meet on campus and it is another small loving church where everyone knows each other. This is ideal for me, because those megachurches are just too big to be personal. Small churches are better to form loving relationships in.

All too often, Chistians will preach a "turn or burn" message to people. This message, one that I have heard many times, offered me little hope. It never worked to bring me to Jesus - it did the opposite. Christians who loved me unconditionally drew me to Jesus - not someone trying to scare me out of hell.

Jesus did not come to scare us. He did not come to condemn us either. He came to love us and save this world.

Christian Unity, Christian Love

Ever since the Great Schism which divided the Eastern Orthodox Church from the Roman Catholic church, divisions have spilt the body of Christ. We need to have more unity in the church. There seems to be divisions in America - liberal Christians and conservative Christians, black Chrisitians and white Christians. Despite our differences, we need to work together. I have seen various churches and youth groups come together and serve under the Burnside Bridge in Portland, Oregon. The ministry is called Night Strike. What they do is feed and generally care for the homeless and poor under the bridge. At Portland State University, there is a student group who's purpose is to promote unity among Christians and Christian student groups on campus. We all have one goal - to share Jesus' love by serving and loving ones in need. Then God does the work of bringing that person to the point of giving his life to Christ. It is through giving unconditional love to people through Christians that will win them to Christ - not telling them how bad they are. People already know how bad they are. Our job is to show them that God loves them. Often times, these people think God hates them. People are often times the way they are because they have been abused in some way. A little kindness from God's people will go a long way to bring them to Jesus.

We must love everyone, no matter who they are. Some Christians hate homosexuals, for instance. We are supposed to love them, even though we don't condone thier lifestyle. We are supposed to even love our enemies as Jesus commanded us to do. We must forgive as God forgave us, because if you don't forgive others, God will not forgive you. Remember, people who are in sin are enslaved to it. We need to pray to God to set them free. We must pray for our unsaved loved ones, friends and family, as well as coworkers. Lastly, we must love each other and pray for each other and we must quit gossiping about each other. Gossip kills a church faster than anything does.

We really do need to come together as a church and start loving each other and loving and serving people outside the church. We need to care more for the needy and poor among us and in our communities and pursue God with all our hearts.

Fighting evil - Spiritual warfare

Evil exists in our society. That is evident. Many Christians try to combat it by attempting to gain political power to try to stamp it out. This approach does not have the power to set people free from various bondages. Legislating a moral precept does not change a person's heart - only prayer does. We can only fight evil, which comes from Satan and his demonic agents, with the power of the Holy Spirit. Our weapons are not carnal, but are spiritual, with the power to pull down strongholds. A stronghold is anything in a person's mind that keeps out the truth and keeps lies in. The battle is in the mind. Groups like the Moral Majority have drawn ridicule, struggling for real change. That is because they tried to fight on their own strength. We as Christians need to fight in the spiritual realm. Occultists and people who serve Satan operate on the spiritual and supernatural realm and so can we through the Holy Spirit. Every region and city on earth is controlled by territorial spirits. We need to be a praying church, praying for each other and our commmunities, as well as our unsaved friends, family and coworkers. We need to pray for God to send his warring angels to strike down demonic forces that are holding our cities, college campuses and communities, and our nation in bondage. We need to pray for miracles.

The Church in America understands little about praying for miracles. Miracles is how God manifests His glory and miracles occur in third world nations along with mass revival. I have even heard stories that the dead are being raised there. We need to pray for healings for our loved ones.

Then we as a church need to get out of our separatist holy huddle, go out into the world and be salt and light to a dying world. That does not mean that we are of this world or that we should immitate its sinful ways, but how can we impact a lost world if we are barricaded wthin the four walls of the church. We need to go out and be the church and reach out to people. There is a hunger for God's love among the people in this world that we should fill by loving and serving them.

We as a church, once we repent of sin that has existed in the church, need to pray for a move of God's Spirit and be ready for when that comes. And be Christ's hands and feet.
